December 2005
Or Mrs. Claus, since it was around Christmas, and with the addition of the mob cap, we decided that Hannah looks like Mrs. Claus. Ah, what else? Oh, this was a "I'm done with finals early and I'm not going home for a while - I'm bored and I need something to sew" project. Yes, I love those. Besides, Donna made the Sharpie/UR/Holiday Dinner an optional costumed event. So, I made Hannah (and Holly's Purple DW Dress) during 2 or 3 days, same pattern, look at Holly's if you like this one.
At the moment, I can only find these few pictures, which don't give a lot of detail. So, until I can get Hannah in this again, these pics will hae to do. Oh, there is also a muff that she made to go along with this, and we made a cloak after Christmas break. But, no pics of those either. We'll have to work on that ;)
Pattern was Simplicity ... oK I can't find it online, and I'm not digging through. Ahh, nevermind all that, I found it. And it was Simplicity, they just don't have their patterns very organized. Anyway, it's S. 4900.
Details Jacket: Followed the pattern for the most part, except that we altered the neck line so it was a V instead of that closed neck sillyness. It closes with 1 wooden button. Dont remember anything else, aside that the skirt/peplum was sort of tricky to attach on, cause the fabric was plaid, and I wanted most stripes to match up. There are a few things that I wished I thought through more (lining things & such) but I guess I shouldn't do things like this at odd times in the morning. Oh, and there is lovely fuzzy gray trim all around the Jacket. Hannah has good ideas :)
Shirt: Followed directions for the most part, although I didn't have time to make a slit with button holes, so I just made sure that the hole would fit over her head. If I remeber correctly, the sleeves have cloth ties.
Skirt: Didn't follow directions, just sewed cut panels of hannah's Waist to Floor measurement. Pleated them onto a waist band, and then I sewed in some hook/eyes and snaps (or something along those lines) to hold it all in place. I vaguely remember talking about adding that same gray trim a 3 or 4 or 5 inches from the bottom of her skirt, but, we never got around to it.
Well I dont know what other details/comments I have to make, so, I guess my work here is done. Until, of course, we get Hannah in her get-up anytime soon. ;) |
