| 11.16.06 This is Michele's Gown, which looks a lot like Sarah's. That's cause we used the same pattern (I know, you would have never guessed). She also wore this to the Ren Faire for my birthday. I dont think that I had any problems with this, the only thing that I *think* she said about it was that the train was annoying (needs to be pinned up, no biggie) and that it was a little tight around the neck/shoulers/arms. Again, this dress is at home, over break I think I will fix it - I'm thinking about putting a gusset in ... and I think that should work. Some quick details: Pattern is Butterick 3552, view A without the cape/cloak. It is lined to the waist, and the sleeves are bag lined with the same green fabric. It could almost pass as Susan's Archery Dress, the sleeves would just need to be redone (and the neckline isn't quite right). All of it is a cotton poly, and I followed the pattern, minus the back cause it is a lace up with loops (instead of eyelets like Sarah's). I also used the godets to keep it full. I had also orginally wanted to do some embroidery (light yellow) around the neckilne, but was a little pressed for time, so it didn't happen. I dont have many progress pics cause I followed the pattern, and I think it was pretty straight forward. Well I'm not too sure, cause I think I just looked at the pieces and put it together without reading the directions very closely. I would put pics up, but dresses look better on a body, and I have pics of her in it, so IO am going to put them up. Well I dont know if there is anything else that I can say about this dress ... except that I adore that picture of her up there. :) It's definitely one of my favorites. |
