| Susan's Green Archery Dress amazingly, I almost have everthing for this dress. I found $1, 60" green checked 100% cotton (med/heavy weight) at walmart, so I bought all 11 yards (it's now prewahsed & dried). I also bought 6 packages of Rit Dark Green Dye from Rag Shop, and will get around to dyeing the green checked fabric to one shade of dark green. I might have to get some more though. I am also going to need some sort of lining fabric, unless we go with the same light blue that Lu's dress is lined with ... in a couple pics it does look like the lining is the same for both dresses, so this might be an option. thanks to the WONDERFUL people over at narniaweb, there are sketches of the embroidery on her neckline and along her sleeves, so this won't be a problem to go and sort through. | Lucy's Blue Camp Dress well there are going to be several modifications to this. First of all, I am 20, and Lu is supposed to be much closer to 10 years. So while i am going to try and stick to the original design and spirit of the dress, it is going to be more of Lucy wanting this same dress but she's too old to wear the original so people are making her a newer & more princess like dress to wear while she is queen. i hope that made a little sense. and ... i have all the fabric for this dress. I wasn't even planning on making it until (when I went back to WalMart to get the green checked fabric for Su's dress) i saw the perfect fabric ever for Lucys Camp Dress. And, since it was only $1, I bought all 14 yards of it (even though it's all polyester). Then, several days later, while looking at online fabric, I found a wonderful matching fabric that would be perfect for the underdress and as a lining fabric - $1/yd Polyester Crepe, med. weight. Needless to say, i bought enough of it to fully line the entire dress, and make a separate underdress. and i'll have some left over (might be using that for Susan's). again, narniaweb is wonderful, and i am going to be making contributions .... there is a design for some of Lucy's emb around her neck, but not the lower part and they dont have it on the back or around her sleeves. So hopefully one day, i'll be motivated enough to trace the pattern and copy it down (i even have pics printed out for it.) Their write-up of her Dress. I think though, I won't really start this until I actually have a dress form, so I will hopefully be able to make my own pattern. or i'll at least have a much easier time fitting this on a dressform than on myself. | :) what could be more perfect? I have 1 sister and 2 brothers! lol .. well there are some things that are going to be different. My sister (who is younger) likes Su's Green Dress better than Lucy's, and so i'm going to make that one for her. I'll be wearing Lucy's Blue dress, with some modifications. Eventually, my brothers will have some sort of clothing similar to Peter & Ed's. also, all of the pics and other random info that you see on any of these sites, comes from NARNIAWEB, the place to go for anything narnia-related. I would def. recommend going there if you ever need any info on any costumes or other info. |
