Black & Purple Renaissance

September 2006

Was one of the "night before" type things that seem to happen so much in my life. We made a midnight WalMart run, and Serenity picked up the fabric, which was a purple crinkle for a bodice, and a velvet/velour/something with a nap black for her dress (both of which were poly/poly blends).

I dont know if I used any pattern, I might have used something for the bodice, though I dont know which it was. It hold shut with some sort of cord, and the eyelets are just cut, as I didnt have time to hand sew them. It is lined however, which is good thing cause it's a thin fabric.

As for the dress, I simply used her Shoulder-To-Floor measurement, cut 2 panels, sewed them together. Then I just gathered the neckline onto a strip of black bias tape. The sleeves are normal tube sleeves I think, I can't remember if they are a little pointed. It's not hemed cause the fabric really doesn't unravel and I didn't have time.

All in all, I dont think it's too bad for a 3-4 hour project, started after midnight, including time fought with machine.
